Beatbox brilliance | Tom Thum | TEDxSydney

Thom Thum is a beatboxer from Australia ( Brisbane). The conference begins with a demostration of what can he do with his voice for example making the soundtrack of a Michael Jackson song (Billie Jean) . After that, Thom explains where is he from and he talks about the inconvenients to do what he want in live living in his birthplace. After this introduction , the beatboxer tries to ilustrate the public making beatbox, the places that he went to succeed whith the market of the thousand and one voices. He make representative sounds of India, which is the first place that he went to find beatboxing jobs. The second place was China and after that, he makes a big jump and wents to Germany.

After he ilustrates the places that he went they show to the public a Dj Controller called PAD. What Thom does whith PAD is produce voices saving in the controller for make a remix of the records that he does. The inspiration that he found to do this incredible shows was in Australia. One day, Thom wents to a bar near home. He was drinking a beer and suddenly a jazz band starts playing music. The beatboxer thoughts if he can do all the voices that we want, he can make an orchestra and make shows doing for example a jazz show with his voice. And this is what he does in Ted X with PAD. He record all the sounds of a jazz band, like trumpets, saxos, drums and also he simulates a Jazz Man singing.
And this is what he does Tom Thum, armed with just a microphone, pushes the limits of the human voice to create incredible soundtranks of impossible beats and phenomenal sounds.
